What do you do when you outgrow “home”? When you outgrow the place that’s supposed to provide you comfort, security, and belonging. When home doesn’t feel like one anymore, when you can no longer relate to the popular culture of the place, what your peers find interesting, the shows everyone watches, the things they like to do, the way they act or talk! When your accent doesn’t match everyone else’s, when your vocabulary includes words you can’t explain to them. Even though you still look like them, you have the same color of skin, the same hair type, features, and eyes. Eyes with so much sadness inside them. Sadness they can never understand, because as much as you hate to admit it, and as much as you have wished it wasn’t true and have tried to change it for most of your life, deep down, you’ve always known, you don’t belong here.
